Both license numbers are public record. Look them up yourself on the TDLR license search — that is exactly what the search is for, and I would rather you check than take my word for it.
Why a working practitioner is writing this coursework
I did not come to continuing education from a curriculum department. I came to it from a treatment room. Since 2009 I have held a Texas cosmetology operator license, and for years now I have worked as an active laser hair removal technician — which means the situations I write about are situations I have handled, usually more than once, usually on a day that was already fully booked.
That matters because most Texas CE is produced by companies that have never run a handpiece or reset a station between clients. The hours are technically compliant and completely forgettable. I have never yet met a sanitation shortcut that did not eventually turn up on somebody's skin. Teaching from current practice is the only way I know to make four hours worth your afternoon.
What I teach, and what I refuse to teach
- Laser and light safety as it behaves on real skin types, not as exam vocabulary
- Sanitation at the pace of a full appointment book, including the shortcuts people take and what they cost
- Human trafficking awareness framed for a private treatment room, where the indicators are different
- Client screening and contraindications, including the conversation where you decline a service
- Adverse events — recognizing, documenting and referring, rather than hoping
What I will not do is pad hours, promise approval that has not been issued, or publish a course number that does not exist yet. The provider packet is with TDLR; when the registration and course numbers are issued they will appear on this site, and enrollment opens then.
The spa behind the academy
