It also cuts the other way. Salons, nail shops and massage establishments have themselves been used as fronts, and a licensed professional who recognizes what she is looking at is the state's most likely early warning.

Is the human trafficking hour required for a Texas cosmetology license?
Yes. TDLR requires 1 hour of human trafficking awareness as part of the barbering and cosmetology continuing education requirement at each renewal. It is one of the two hours that are never elective.
Do I need it again every renewal, or just once?
Every renewal. The requirement is written as part of the renewal hours, not as a one-time course.
I have been licensed over 15 years. Am I exempt from this hour?
No. The 15-year provision waives the 2 elective hours. The human trafficking awareness hour and the sanitation hour remain required.
